A matrix question page is a page on which multiple questions may be posed in a matrix style layout. On a matrix question page you can ask your respondents to evaluate one or more row items using a fixed set of column choices. Matrix question pages are especially useful when you wish to pose a number of interconnected questions with similar answer options.

The matrix question page type splits up into two different subtypes. These types of pages vary, depending on the number of answers the respondent can provide you with. We recognise the following subtypes:

Single Response Matrix Page

A single response matrix page is a page on which multiple closed-ended questions are posed. The answers on these pages are predefined. Per matrix row, only one answer can be selected, so if a respondent selects a different answer, any other option within that row will automatically become unselected. We advise a maximum of 5 answer columns and an equal amount of rows to guarantee accuracy as well as a higher response rate.

Multi Response Matrix Page

A multi response matrix page is a page on which multiple closed-ended questions are posed. Per matrix row, multiple answers may be selected, although you can preset a minimum of maximum to the amount of boxes that the respondent can check within that row.
