This release we worked on some updates regarding the smart period filter.
The most important improvement in this aspect is that in the past, when you changed the "grouped by" period, it was possible for the last period setting to automatically skip to a future period, for which no data was present. With this new imporvement the last period setting automatically skips to the period that contains the most recent data.
To provide the user with a better understanding of the conditions of the smart period filter, we now provide more information in the dropdown itself. 1) The project that the period filter refers to is mentioned at the top of the dropdown 2) For daily period grouping, the date format is provided (yyyy-mm-dd) 3) Extra explanation is given about the conditions of the Last Period settings
The project you select when setting up the requirements of the smart period filter is used as a reference to automatically determine the last period settings. When skipping through the "last date" of this setting, the date that is referred to as "last date" is the last date that actual data was gathered within that particular project, not the actual calendar date.
This means that if today is April 3 2021 and we have a monthly grouping of periods, but the last data of the project that is selected has entered the database on March 31 2021, the default last period setting upon entering the dashboard will be the month of March.
When you try to select a last period that has a date later than the last data gathered, you will receive a warning that no data is present in the database for this period.
Because you can only select one main project that the smart period filter refers to, it is recommended to take the project that has the highest update of records as a reference when reporting on multiple projects in one dashboard.
